Meet Mike and Carla, and their daughters Marina, Kaitlyn and Lindsey. Mike and Carla are the incredibly proud grandparents of Lena, who’s adorable session can be found here. Mike and Carla are very dear to my heart- they were the first people outside of my friends or acquaintance circle to give me a shot with my photography. So when Carla was the winner of a”Best of the Worst” contest, showcasing the best of the worst photos from back in the day, I was over the moon to work with this fun bunch for the third time. We took the show on the road, as they say, to the hamlet of Rowley. If you haven’t been there, it’s an adorable little hamlet complete with authentic old school grain bins, an old little bank, an old funeral parlour, a saloon, train car, and train station. It’s really quite pretty in the fall, and the perfect place for a fall photo session. The fall colors were out in full force, the sky was bright and clear. Carla’s personality was out in full force- and that means a laugh a minute was to be had. Mike and Carla’s girls each have their own unique personalities, and each personality is as big as their mother’s. By big, I mean huge. It’s fabulous. At one point, the girls happily followed me to an adorable little bridge for a shot, where immediately Marina and Lindsey kicked off their shoes. Something as small as kicking off your shows your personality. Carla had the big idea for their last shot to include their contest winning shot. I had to agree with her that it was the perfect flair to end the day. To my surprise, the Mellers’ weren’t finished with me- after our laid back, fun session, Mike and Carla were kind enough to insist I accompany them to dinner with the whole family. Their kindness never ceases to amaze me.
